The Most Valuable Currency Isn’t Money

Money is obviously an aggressively sought-after commodity. You know what's far more precious? Focus.

Focus is the one true currency.

It dictates how you spend your time. How you spend your life.

In enjoyment, in gratitude, complete amazement looking at the world around you, or in torturous battle with circumstances you don’t want. You can plant seeds that will grow flowers or weeds in the soil of your mind. Whichever one you focus on is what grows.

Energy, the energy that builds your world, dreams and experience, is spent one way... with your focus. Energy flows where your focus goes.

Your focus has the ability to speed up or slow down time. Turn a negative situation into a beneficial one and heavy thoughts into hope. Your focus is everything. It heals, destroys, creates. It dictates your entire life experience.

Try spending an hour in intense worry and you will experience an hour that stretches on forever. Spend an hour doing something you love and watch it disappear in a flurry of smiles and laughs. Nothing about the clock changed. Your focus did.

This is why mindset is so fundamentally important.

Mindset is the ability to consciously direct your energy expenditure.

It serves us to respond to the world in a way that strengthens both ourselves and the people around us.

Today, watch your thoughts.

Instead of trying to label what goes on in your mind as good or bad, ask yourself where your energy is being spent.

Is it flowing towards someone else?

Is it carrying feelings of love and gratitude, or anger and jealousy?

Will this energy focus serve you in the end by creating something you want?

Resilience is about creating raw, honest self awareness. It all starts with practice and some patient, inward observation.

From this day forward, stop giving your focus away so carelessly.

Guard it.

Direct it.

Invest it in the life you’re trying to build.

This one precious life is worth all the care in the world. Build it well.
